Facility Operator II / Maintenance Operator

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
The primary duties of this position consist of those activities necessary, but are not limited to, the operation and maintenance of pumping, storage, and treatment equipment, chemical feed equipment, blowers, dewatering equipment, instruments and sensors, monitoring the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, routine work on buildings and grounds and daily sampling and laboratory work. This position also involves installation, dismantling, repair, maintenance, and record keeping of all assigned facilities.
The position is located in the Limerick Division.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Operate and maintain the facilities and equipment related to the wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, disposal beds/fields, and collection system. Position requires good mechanical skills as required in the repair/replacement of all plant equipment, including but not limited to pumps, instruments, chemical feed equipment, etc Performs inspections, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and conducts corrective maintenance of treatment plant apparatus and equipment as directed. Assists other personnel with routine and emergency maintenance of facilities as required. Respond to PA-One Call utility mark-out requests as needed. Communicates, records, and maintains relevant information regarding treatment plant operations in Maintenance Connection and other electronic data bases as required. Record measurements and data to verify and maintain drawings for proper record keeping and reporting of the Company's facilities. Must be proficient in computer database, word processing, and spreadsheet programs.
Responsible for making and implementing recommendations regarding process changes and adjustments at facilities to improve operational performance.
Monitor collection system performance and pump station operation. Make recommendations on improvements and upgrades as needed.
Record on plant logs, spreadsheets and electronically all required test results, measurements, equipment readings and observations as specified and/or required by permits, standard operating procedures and as directed by a Supervisor.
Demonstrates excellent communications skills and satisfactorily meets internal and external customer requirements. Communicates effectively with division staff during all assigned work hours. Performs housekeeping duties as assigned, and assures the security of the filter plant structures and property is maintained. Assist with on call responsibilities during the work week and weekends including answering alarm calls and reporting to the facility as necessary to diagnose and address the cause of the alarms Monday through Sunday. Must be available 24 hours a day to respond to plant and system problems.
An understanding of variable frequency drives, motor starters, motors, DC Drives, programmable logic controllers and the ability to diagnose problems and repair equipment where and when feasible is required. Experience with actuated valves is a plus.
Capable of monitoring PLC network to review automated operation of all wastewater facilities, monitor alarms and review computer generated data for proper PADEP and DMR reports, assist in the training of new employees in computer automation system.
Must be able to make mathematical calculations to determine chemical doses required for flow rates and proper treatment.
Required to meet and follow all Aqua safety requirements dealing with hazardous chemical handling, PPE requirements, Arc Flash, Lock-out Tag-out, and all other safety policies and procedures without exception.
Must be able to lift 50lbs. Must be able to climb and work from a ladder. Must have valid driver's license.
All other duties as assigned and capable of increasing skills with experience and proper instruction
SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL OR REGISTRATION QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must either possess or have the ability to obtain a State of Pennsylvania Sewage Plant Operator's license Class B, Subclass 1 and 4, within 24 months of date of hire. Applicant must have been actively involved in operation and maintenance of wastewater facilities for at least two (2) years. Must have current working knowledge of wastewater treatment systems. Must have the capability to diagnose and correct process problems and upsets both reactively and proactively. Use of computers with proficiency in spreadsheets and databases is desirable. Formal training in wastewater is desired such as U.S. EPA Field Study Training Programs and analysis of treatment data and record keeping.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recommend to the Manager and supervisory staff, improvements and equipment needs. and that should be included or considered for annual capital budget preparation.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
